How to Apply

We are no longer accepting applications for the 2022-2023 academic school year. To inquire about the 2023-2024 school year please follow these steps:

Step 1 – Request information.

To learn more about Exeter, complete the online inquiry form. We’ll send you a viewbook: a close-up on campus life and learning with answers to commonly asked questions.

Step 2 – Begin your application.

Apply online: Our application for 2023-2024 will be available on the Gateway portal in July.

Application materials: All application materials are due by January 15 and must be submitted via the Gateway portal.

Standardized tests: Exeter was test optional for applicants for fall 2023. While we encourage students to submit standardized testing as part of their application whenever possible, we recognized that pandemic conditions made it difficult for some to take a standardized test. As always, admission decisions are made holistically with a full and equal review of all submitted materials.

A decision will be made by May 2022 about whether Exeter will continue to be test optional for 2023-2024 applicants.

If you choose to take the standardized test please note that it must be taken no earlier than August of the year preceding the academic start date at Exeter. Please review the list of application materials for information on which tests are accepted at each grade level.

Homeschooling: We welcome applications from home-schooled students. Please use the Gateway portal to submit materials.

Apply for financial aid:  Exeter’s admissions process is need-blind. In the 2021-2022 school year, we allocated $25 million in need-based financial aid. Tuition-free attendance is available for families with incomes below $75,000.

Step 3 – Schedule your admission interview.

We want to know what makes you unique! Starting in May 2022, candidates applying for the 2023-2024 school year are eligible to schedule their online interview with an admissions officer.
